The idea of The Robin Hood Project began in the fall of 2007. What started in a home garage has truly blossomed. Stacy Fisher and her family would hear of local families in need and they began to donate some of their own things to these families in our community. Then in 2008, friend and family members started bringing their donated items to Stacy, who stored them in her garage, until they could be brought to their local families. Friends and neighbors also began to volunteer the use of their trucks to help transport the donated items.
As these acts of giving started to expand, the Fisher Family was fortunate to have a the use of a storage unit donated to house all the items donated awaiting delivery to families in need. From these simple acts of neighbor helping neighbor, Stacy decided to undertake the process of making their ongoing work into the continuing mission of a non profit organization. And so The Robin Hood Project, A New Jersey Non Profit Corporation was formed under the laws of New Jersey on January 29th 2009. Later the named was officially shortened to "The Robin Hood Project, Inc."
The goal of the organization is to continue working on a local and personal level to insure that the poorer communities of Cumberland and Salem County are directly served. Beginning with and continuing together family and friends, this grassroots project is directly helping those in need and will continue to do so. To enable the organization to do even more, it has been recognized by the IRS as a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization.
